Step:

  1. Mix the butter, sugar, vanilla sugar and salt until soft and foamy. Add flour and baking powder. Add the milk and almonds if using.

  2. Set aside half the mix. Divide the other half into two equal parts, mix one with the cocoa the other with the strawberry flavorings and natural pink food colour

  3. Grease a 25 cm long loaf tin or other tin of choice of equal size.First add the vanilla mix, followed by cocoa mix and last the strawberry mix.

  4. Take a small fork or the end of a spoon and gently spiral through the three layers

  5. Bake at 175 C for about 55-60 minutes. The cake is done when a skewer inserted comes away clean

  6. Leave to cool for about ten minutes and turn onto rack to cool completely. Sprinkle with icing sugar or cover with melted chocolate.

  7. You can add a little rum about 1/2 to 1 tablespoon to basic mix but do not make the mix to runny adjust with a tablespoon of flour

  1. 150 grams unsalted butter
  2. 150 grams fine sugar
  3. 1 packages (sachet) vanilla sugar
  4. 1 pinch salt
  5. 3 eggs
  6. 250 grams fine sifted flour
  7. 3 tsp backing powder
  8. 3 tbsp milk
  9. 50 grams chopped almonds(optional)
  10. 3 tbsp cocoa powder
  11. 1/2 tsp strawberry flavouring
  12. 1/3 tsp pink natural food colour
