Step:

  1. In a large pot, brown ground beef.

  2. Drain.

  3. In a separate pan, saute' vegetables in oil and seasonings.

  4. When vegetables are tender and onion is translucent, blend in with beef.

  5. Add canned items and allow to simmer at least 1 hour.

  6. *For hotter chili with a Southwestern twist, add a few tablespoons of diced jalapeƱo peppers during the simmering process.*

Ingredients

  1. 2 1/2 lb ground beef (I use chuck)
  2. 1 large onion, diced
  3. 1 green pepper, diced
  4. 4 stalks celery, sliced
  5. 1 tbsp oil
  6. 2 tsp crushed garlic
  7. 1 tbsp chili powder
  8. 1 tsp pepper
  9. 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  10. 1 tsp cumin
  11. 1 tsp seasoned salt
  12. 1 pinch of basil
  13. 1 pinch of thyme
  14. 1 (28 ounce) can tomato puree'
  15. 1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes
  16. 1 (28 ounce) can kidney beans
  17. 1 (16 ounce) can tomato juice
